I have run a 12 hour prime 95 blend test on a 4.7ghz clock with just 1.14 volts completely stable without crashing. After doing much research I have found that my v core is considerably lower than everyone elses, the lowest being 1.215 that I I found . I was wondering is my chip faulty or have a managed to snag one of the illusive "golden haswell chips" lol.

I've run into some issues with my overclock. I decided to take the cpu cooler off to check the TIM was applied properly. I then took the cpu off and carefully cleaned it and and the cooler. I reseated the cpu and attached the cooler tried to turn on but kept getting a bios error, which the came down to the fact I accidently hit one of the auto overclock buttons that's attached to the board. I disabled the setting and when I restarted the pc I reloaded the 4.7 ghz settings I used previously. On these settings it lasted 24 hours on a test but now with the exact same bios settings it wont last 30 mins :/ and its not the temps because if anything they are even better now. I am completely baffled because when I increase the voltage now, the test runs for a longer period of time which gives the impression it needs more voltage......

I'm willing to bet you changed a bios setting when you reset everything.

What were your initial settings for 4.7ghz?

Honestly I just switched the psu off and on from the back and now its been running back on the old settings for an hour now... and for 24 hour test I had to increase the volts to 1.65

Also to get the settings I went for the auto 4.7 ghz setting on the motherboard and then tweaked it from there rather than having to start from scratch and I do have xmp on but its always been on and none of the settings have changed.... I really dont understand what the hells going on.

Do you mean the vcore?

No this is a totally separate voltage which is crucial for stability. Vrin or CPU input voltage is the voltage supplied to the on die vrms

Why 1.9 may I ask?

When i first put together my haswell rig i was getting random freezes when i started overclocking. It would be stable for hours then boom would freeze up on me. No matter what voltage i would get a freeze till i found out my Vrin was at 1.8v. Most chips are fine at 1.9v but some need 2.0v for 100% stability

The thing is though my cpu lasted 24 hours with those settings until I took my cpu out and cleaned it aswell as the cooler and then reseated it and then as soon as I tried the same settings it consistently crash after either 30 mins or an hour.....

Alright. You can leave it at 1.8v but if you have any issues push it up to 1.9v

Thanks dude, it still makes no sense to me why now it suddenly works again on the previous settings.....

Sometimes when you leave settings on auto the bios sometimes will change voltages with every startup or if it detects a change

Wtf... did I read right you have your core set at 1.65v? Please tell me this was a typo or I misunderstood

@intel - please quit trolling every cpu thread with the vrim thing before other issues are resolved! This not a foolproof answer and often can complicate matters
