I7 4770k Overclocking

Hey, I know alot about PC in general, but I don't know a lot about Overclocking the cpu. I have watched this tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qcta3RStYSM Is this what i should do. Why does he change the RAM speeds and do i have to overclock my ram.
PC specs: GTX 770, I7 4770k, MSI G45 gaming, 16 GB Ram 1600 Mhz, Cooler Master seidon 120m
I want to overclock it to around 4,4 ghz. Also, what is the ideal temperature for the cpu, I don't want it to run too Hot

i have Z87-G45 as well, so this makes it easier to explain enter BIOS and go into the overclock section, look for something called "Adjust CPU Ratio" change it to whatever number you want, i started out at 4Ghz and worked my way up, then adjust "CPU Core Voltage" set it to 1.125 if you start off at 4GHz, some start at 1.200v but that's too much for a small 4GHz, save your changes and wait for it to boot.

to test the stability i use
IBT http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?1978... run this 10 times on "High" preset, if you are stable after 5 you should be okay but i always run 10 to be sure
Realtemp http://www.techpowerup.com/realtemp/ to track temps while stresstesting

if everything is stable raise your CPU Ratio and Voltage little by little until you are at your 4.4GHz, remember to run IBT each time you increase your overclock to make sure it's stable, however i don't know your cpu cooler but i am at 80-83 degrees when stresstesting my CPU at 4.4GHz with 1.200v, and Idle temps: 23-29, Gaming BF4 temps: ~50

changing RAM speeds have nothing to do with overclocking your CPU, but you can enable XMP if your RAM is only running at 1333mhz like mine were then they run at 1600mhz, no need to change anything else.
