Hello, I have an i7 4770K running at a good 4.3Ghz with 12G of ram, 2400Mhz, and a gtx 1080. My question is would I have any benefit on the gaming perspective if I upgraded from my 4770K to a newer cpu, somewhere in the i7 8700 range. With vid settings set low I get over 160fps , and with my 144hz monitor, it runs just fine. So I am not sure if I would see anything yet. The 4770K is 5 years old. What do you think? Oh and I run with vsync set to fast so with my fps I can keep plenty of frames on hand. Thanks for any advice you can give.

As you have a really good graphic card I wouldn't be upgrading if I was you.
i7 4770k is a great CPU. I use i7 4700 and I dont lack anything.

If You upgrade to new i7 8700 Yo uwill have to buy:
-i7 8700
-new motherboard
-new DDR4 RAM (as now you have DDR3)

all above to get couple more FPS...?

For me its not worth upgrading at all.
Put money away and wait for new generation of CPU and then upgrade.
