Hey guys! Building a gaming PC next month and my friend just told me he'll sell me his brand new i7 4790 for only $250 because we've known each other for a long time. He thought he'd hook me up. It will be paired with an RX 480 when it launches and 16 gigs of ram. Will this be good for gaming for the next 2-3 years? Oh yeah and I'll also need to record gameplay and edit it to post on YouTube. I play call of duty, CSGO, rocket league, league of leg, minecraft ect. Will it be good at recording those at a high fps for the next couple years?

It's not a jaw-dropping price on the 4790, they sell used for anywhere in the $225-$250 range on ebay, but a fair price. I think you'll definitely have a quality machine for years to come.

Thanks. That's greatt

^ yes on the Xeon being good for streaming (and a great processor overall)....except if you want to stream with QuickSync in which case you need an iGPU. But if you stream x264 it shouldn't matter...I think. I don't know enough about streaming.

But in either case, they will both be great machines. If you don't want to wait for the new release and pay bleeding-edge prices you could also opt for a 390, XFX has one for $250.

Okay thanks.
