Hey all,
I've been planning an upgrade for my older computer. Here is the problem though. I have a $500 budget from parents(I'm 15) for a cpu and mobo. From my older computer im going to use the r9 270x sapphire and overclock it for my newer build with the i7 4790.

Essentially what I'm asking is if the i7 4790 and the r9 270x would be good for mid range gaming(casual 1080p bf4 @ high-ultra with anti aliasing off, arma 3). I cant really afford a brand new gpu at this point, because cards like the gtx 960 are not worth an upgrade.

Could I have some feedback on this? Thanks!

Exactly what do you have now?
I suspect you can use that $500 budget better.
Your performance will be limited by the graphics card, but the 4790 and 270X would be ok for mid range gaming.

$500 will buy you a I7-4790K and a decent motherboard.
I would pay the extra for a 4790K over a 4790 to get the better bin and the increase of stock clock rate.

Really, though, A I5-4690K and Z97 motherboard will leave you with funds left over to upgrade the graphics card.

consider ram and everything while 8gb ram is enough for now try to get 16gb i mean if you will stay with that system for some years drop the cpu a bit if you wont be able to upgrade anytime soon
