Hello. I'm really considering upgrading my I7 4790, H81M-K, 16GB DDR3, because it's bottlenecking my games mainly because of the 1600mhz ram speed, so I thought I would switch to the newer architecture. I did some research on performance and price and for my budget I'm thinking about a ryzen 5 3600, MSI B450A-PRO motherboard, and 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200Mhz RAM. Would this be good for the next couple of years? Thanks.

yes, that would be a pretty good upgrade
although, what gpu are you using? in most games, especially less cpu bound ones, a 4790 wont bottleneck any gpu up to a 2070 super.
in more cpu bound games, csgo, farcry 5/new dawn you will see bottlenecking with the 4790.

aside from that, thats a pretty good upgrade with a solid path to update later.

I'm using a GTX 1070 and the 4790 has indeed bottlenecked my system in CPU bound games, especially in games like Battlefield, Far Cry 5, battle royales and even in the Ground War mode on Modern Warfare. And as I'm also considering buying a VR headset later on, I think a good CPU and fast RAM is necessary. Thanks for the answer.
