i7-4790K 8 Cores?

Hey guys,

I bought i7-4790K a couple of minutes ago..

After successful installation...

I checked my processor in msconfig.. In the drop down list I see that 8 Cores option is available!!

How is it possible? i7-4790K is a Quad Core CPU right?

That's a quad core, but it's got 8 threads in total. Programs use threads, not cores.

I just added a link for the screenshot.. So, Which option should I choose? 4 or 8?

Choose 8 , there are 4 physical cores and 4 Virtual Cores = Hyper threading.

You should normally leave that option unchecked FYI. That is normally used only if you want to limit the processor.
