Hello,
I am building a new PC. I have two choices in my budget that is an i7 4790k paired with a gtx 980ti or an i7 5820k paired with a gtx 980. I intend on gaming most of the time, and also want to get into mod making, rendering or any thing which i might get interested in. So which would provide better performance? I am mostly going to SLI the 980 in year or so if i buy it.

Solution
Unless your monitor is 1440p or higher, get the 5820k + 980. It'll smash everything at 1080p, even at 144Hz. If you do intend 1440p or better then definitely 980ti.
It all depends really, Go with the 980TI if you're aiming for 1440P and above, but go with the 980 if you're just going 1080P.

All up to you in the end though, Weigh the cons and pros of both builds and decide what you will be most satisfied with.

4790K and GTX 980Ti. The 4790K is cheaper, motherboards are generally cheaper, and you won't need as big a PSU if not going SLI. It will also have much more game performance. If you do get in to rendering or editing, it's still a capable CPU for that.

I have a 980ti with 1440p and I get great settings in games. I play many at near 100fps. Skip the TitanX and get the 980ti. Same performance but less $$.
