i7-4790k and MSI Z97-GAMING 5 compatibility

Read reviews on the z97 that the 4790k doesn't work with this motherboard due to the BIOS version.

I also read that it doesn't matter.

Does anyone have a clue as to whether or not the z97 will work with the 4790k?

Board with an older BIOS would have to have been all that time in stock at the retailer.
