Will two gtx 1080's bottleneck my CPU? I am currently running two gtx 980s without issue (to my knowledge)

Solution

There is no info on the next Pascal Titan (yet) so nobody can tell you whether it's going to bottleneck or not. My gut tells me it will. 😀

Twin GTX 1080's is already pretty potent for a 4790K. Especially if your maxing out at 4k or 5k 60fps ultra settings, that's a lot of power for even a 4790K to handle (but it can handle it for sure).

Would i be able to sli the next titan series card without bottle-necking? I understand its speculation to a degree; but I can always overclock the cpu.

Even 4K is limited to 60Hz speed. Single GTX 1080 can run 4K at 60Hz. And if you really want to go for GTX 1080 SLI then i recommend waiting For i7 6950X.
i7 4790k Can be a little bottleneck for 2*GTX1080 and with 2*GTX Titan(Pascal) You will surely bottlenect the CPU.

that cpu is gonna be $1500!!!

You were asking for two GTX Pascal Titans, so i thought you may have a bigger budget.

Yeah it is doable but my wallet will be very sad; would there be another intel cpu that can handle it at a more afordable price (Ideally around 600-700 give a couple hundred if necessary)

Simple fact is that you will never really need that much of power. GTX 1080 already performs 1.3 times better than Titan X. And GTX Titan Pascal is going to come with HBM2. God knows how much powerful it can be. And 4k is limited to 60hz. Thus you wont need that much power. i7 4790k can handle single GTX Titan Pascal.

I suppose I will go with a single pascal titan if I dont give in and buy 2 1080's; i like to maintain 144 fps at 1440p at all times and want to move onto 4k+; also im sure there will be high refresh rate 4k+ monitors soon enough, 60 fps just seems choppy now that I have had 144 for so long.
