i7 4790k CPU core ratio

Hi guys

What does cpu core ratio mean . I have an thermaltake 3.0 ultimate on my cpu and with aida64 die cpu reached 61°c with 1.304 v . When I entered my bios I changed the core ratio to AUTO from SYNC ALL CORES . Now in aida64 the cpu reaches only 41°c but does not use the turbo frequency of 4400 mhz and with a voltage of 1.145 v .

Do I leave it on AUTO or change it to Sync all cores ??

It can be either way. Syncing all cores will make it run hotter because all the cores run at the same speed all the time. In auto mode it can save power by slowing some cores down and running some fast.

The reason your CPU got cooler temperatures is because when you switched to 'sync' and it disabled your turbo boost, so the CPU wasnt running at a higher clock speed and therefore didnt get as hot.

Leave it on auto if you want better CPU performance.

This is the voltage that was set automatically by your motherboard and CPU (hence 'auto'), so I would wager that it is absolutely fine. Your temperatures were more than within safe limits too, so no issues there.

Yes it is safe, I wouldn't go much higher.
