Hello everyone,
Have been reading around a bit and have read about a few people that have disabled hyperthreading on their CPU's and gotten a fairly large performance boost out of doing so for gaming.
Currently running an I7-4790k OC@4.5Ghz with an Msi gaming 5 mobo, I'm sure there arent many aps out there that fully utilize the 8threads but I do do alot of transfering of files and such, would this be worth while to look into?

In most cases, you won't find a difference with hyperthreading on an I7 unless you are a power user or gamer. It takes a LOT of CPU load to make the hyperthreading worth it. The I7 is just a beast and can do a lot.

The biggest reason why people turn off the hyperthreading to overclock is because it adds stability to the system.

OP, in your case, I do NOT think it would be beneficial for you to turn hyperthreading off, simply because you are more of a power user.
Run some benchmarks for a while while you are doing your normal activities, then disable it and run them again and see if you can measure a good difference. In many cases HT on should be faster than with it off though, so even though a few games might perform better, overall your machine probably won't.
