Hey guys,
I just finished assembling my first PC,
It doesn't play any beep sound on first boot but everything is going fine so far (i'm wondering if it's because I didn't connect the 'speaker' on F_PANEL, the mobo is a gigabyte z97x gaming 5 btw) so I don't know if there's any problem with that?
One more thing is that the CPU temperature is around 40~43 degree and i was just in the BIOS doing nothing.
So any ideas what's happening? Any help would be appreciated!

Solution
The i7-4790K is 4.0 with 4.4 "Turbo Boost" it appears that it's automatically running at 4.4
I have the 4790k as well and it's about 24C at idle. However, it's only running at 4.0 with stock cooler and I may have a good chip.
At 4.4 and 40C at Idle with the Cooler you have I think it's ok.

yeah i do, and it's running just fine.

I just noticed that the CPU core frequency is always at 4400mhz, is that normal?

I've read several threads with the same problem and they said it was because of there power settings were set to high performance instead of balance, i'm still trying to figure out how to do that..

Another thing here, I have the GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-UD5H Mobo with the 4790k chip. It seems that the default settings of the Gigabyte boards are a little aggresive with CPU Voltage and such. Gigabyte addressed some of these problems by pulling in the reigns of the settings with new Bios updates. Make sure your Bios is current. I am still trying to get my head around the default Bios setting from Gigabytes. So far my build is solid, but I don't like the way the Clock speed jumps around.

Do you know if there's any chance that i could adjust it to it's normal core speed? And will it damge the system running at that higher speed for a long time? I didn't plan to do any overclocking so this is quite a bit of an issue i'm affraid

I'm sorry, but I'm not quite sure what to do. I've only had my PC for a week and haven't had time yet to monkey around with it. The Gigabyte boards are odd...not bad...They just seem to have odd default settings.

It was indeed running with turbo boost enabled, i just have it disbaled and everything went back to normal. Current temp ~36 degree. Thanks a lot for all your helps!

I don't have the exact same GB mobo i have a h87-itx one and with my 4790k it was getting 47c on air in the BIOS but in win7 it would drop the volts and therefore the temps to about 35c. i think by you turning turbo off you limit yourself to 4ghz. Try it with turbo on AS WELL AS speedstep options on ( they will drops volts and multi while idle.)
For an additional point of reference I have another 4970k in my gfs asrock z97 extreme3 and its getting 22c (in same room as A/C unit set at 21) idle with a 212evo (barely fits btw)
EDIT: My first time with a water cooler was on a 3930k and i forgot to plug in the pump, the fans were all going and my temps were about 40 something was wrong so i rechecked it all to find my mistake 😛
