What are your current system specs ? I think unless you are getting a new 4790k for ultra cheap there is no point in going with this cpu at this stage. The 4790k is a great cpu but is still on DDR3 and there are 3 new generations out now that are ahead of this. There are better I7 CPU out there for example 6700k 7700k these 2 are basically the same thing but would recommend the 6700k due to it having better thermals. The new 8700k is new 6 core with 12 threads cpu. Its more expensive than the previous I7 s . This all comes down to what you have to spend. There is a 8600k I5 which only has 6 threads/cores. If you want my opinion i would get the 8700k and you are safe to assume you PC is going to be a monster with that CPU. If you are short on cash than try to stick to a good budget set up 6700k is not a bad choice other will disagree with me.
