Hi all,
I 've recently set up a new rig with the following specs:
ASUS Maximus VII Gene | Intel Core i7-4790K | G.Skill TridentX 16GB 2400 | Corsair H90
Being new in the world of overclocking i tried after extensive reading an OC at 4.6 Ghz (1.25V). The values are included in the picture below. I am facing a serious problem with my temps during Prime95 and AIDA (FPU) stress tests. My temperatures rise to 100c and therefore I instantly quit them.
My system during gaming, other processes or stress tests reach the following temperatures:
Idle: ≤40c
Far Cry 3 / WatchDogs: ≤60c
Aida (Cpu): ≤65c
Intel XTU Stress Test: 70-75c
RealBench: ≤70c
Cinebench: ≤70c
Aida (CPU,FPU,CACHE,RAM,DISKS,GPU)*: ≤75c
Intel XTU Benchmark: ≤80c
Intel Burn Test: ≤85
Two weeks now i haven't experienced any problem with the PC except the mentioned above. I am struggling to understand the cause of the problem and that's the moment I really need your advice! Is it the CPU, is it the H90**?? Or is everything normal and the above tests are responsible somehow. Are my temperatures normal for this kind of setup?
*I have run this stability test for 12 hours facing no problem
** Being afraid of the H90's performance i remounted it first with Arctic Silver 5 and a second time using little rubbers before the screws of mounting plate in order to ensure maximum contact. The difference was like 5c, nothing much.
Below i attach a related printscreen. Looking forward for your opinion, G.
