So i stressed tested my 4790k at 1.25v with a 4.6ghz multiplier and seems stable, before this I tried stress testing at 1.2v and got a BSOD, so I was wondering if I could get away with something in between 1.2v - 1.25v with a 4.6Ghz multiplier or should I just not risk it and leave it at 1.25v?

My temps where at 80C-85C at 1.25v when stress testing with aida64 is this ok for a 4th gen Haswell CPU? I know they tend to run a little on the hotter side. I'm not doing anything crazy with this computer I use it mainly for gaming and watching movies and stuff like that and temps are usually in the high 60C when gaming.

CPU- i7 4790k 4GHz
AIO- cooler master Nepton 280
Motherboard- Asus Sabertooth z97 mark 2
GPU- Aorus 1080ti 11gb extreme edition
OS- windows 7 64-bit SP1
Ram- 16gb DDR3 corsair vengeance (i think don't remember the exact name)
PSU- 750W Corsair 80 gold

Solution
Sure you can go higher if you want, I probably would just for the fun of it. Regular gaming temp like you said is your main concern, but also keeping stress tests below dangerous temp levels.

yea that's what I figured, but using it only to game it hits around mid 60c which are ideal temps are they not? gaming is what I use this PC mostly for. I was only getting 80-85C with aida64, which is not really a real-world application in my case right?

I will definitely try going down .01v at a time like you suggested and see if I get any crashes during gaming.

P.S.

So I was able to post and boot into OS with 1.215v with 4.6Ghz and ran a couple of cinebench tests and got to a max temp of 78C do you think I can increase my multiplier to maybe a 4.7ghz and maybe increase my voltage a bit? or just be content with what I got and call it a day?
