Hey. I'm having this current issue with my new computer build, it's a i7-4790K@4ghz with a z97 ASUS motherboard. I'm doing some tests in a benchmark program called "performance test 8.0" and it shows that my CPUmark score is only 7800. With some quick google searches i figured that it should be close to 11000 and my friend (with the same cpu) also had a much higher score than me. What could cause this? I'll also mention that under control panel it says that its only 3,6 ghz when it should be 4,00? Would love a good answer on this topic :)

My system:

*ASUS Z97-A, Socket-1150
*Intel Core i7-4790K
Socket-LGA1150,Quad Core,4.0GHz,8MB,88W,22nm,HD4600,Boxed w/fan, Devil's Canyon
*MSI Gforce GTX 760
*Crucial DDR3 1333MHz 8GB KIT, CL9
*W7 64 BIT
*Some Be Quiet PSU (I think 1000W)

Solution
Uplug your PC from the wall and remove your CMOS battery for a few seconds and then put it back in. This should reset all of your bios settings to the right values. It seems pretty clear to me that some of your bios settings are out of whack and I have no idea how it happened. Those types of things usually don't happen on their own. Your CPU speed should be around 4000MHz or 4400MHz with a maximum multiplier of 44. Yours is just 36 which is obviously wrong. Your CPU is underclocked.
Normal cpumark 4790K is high 11000 or around 117xx
With Asus multicore enhancements at 4.4 123xx
reset yout bios and try again. Check cpu temp during the test. Use realtemp
Your chip maybe throttling due to high temp.

BWT your ram is slow. Expect lower scores than above.

Thanks for the answer! :)

is it this you're referring to?

I also noticed in CPU-Z that it only shows 3605,60 MHZ Core Speed: look picture below :

Thanks for the reply! :)

I don't think it's running hot

I will try to reset / update the bios, but the one from the "factory" should be fine anyway? Shouldn't be this bad?

Does this tell you anything?

I ran the test again, here's the results+ temperature !

Not over 58 degrees, should be fine?

Thanks for a good reply! :) Helped a lot

I checked my bios and found this setting:

I set it to AUTO and the speed suddenly went to everything from 4,0 GHZ to 4,4 GHZ :)

It was set on manual with "3,6 GHZ" No idea why tho..

I dont know which is the best setting tho, "sync all cores" or "auto"

Did a new test after this:

Much better score, even though it could be higher, I'm guessing my poor RAM is responsible for that?

At the last i checked the temperatures:

I have NO idea what AUXTIN means, and its very high. if you have any idea it would be great :)

Anyway THANKS ALOT :) I learned a lot and finally figured this out !:) Cheers!
