Hi everyone im wondering about upgrading to an I7 4790K my current CPU is an I5 4440 and my motherboard is a Z97-P. Firstly I think that this CPU is compatible but could someone confirm it please. Secondly do you guys think its worth it (Roughly £280). My PSU will be able to cope with it do doubt so no worries about that. Primary use is gaming by the way.

Specs

GTX 1070 Founders Edition
Intel I5 4440
16GB FURY (Hyper X) Ram
Z97-P Asus Motherboard

Solution
Honestly, while a 4790K (or i5-4690K) would likely show some gains due to the boost in clock speed (and hyper-threading in the i7's case), it's not worth it (to me) to justify the ~280 outlay.

GTAV is quite demanding on the CPU, and, while I've never played Mankind Divided, I would assume the same thing given the circumstances.

The 1070 is as good a chance as you'll get for a solid 60FPS, but some titles remain poorly optimized, where dips below 60FPS are certainly possible/likely, regardless of the GPU.

You're right, that the CPU is holding you back (a little) in some instances, but if your frame rate is still reasonable/playable (30+FPS) during the 'dips', it's pretty hard to justify the cost of any upgrade*.

*of course, entirely...
1080p trying to get 60fps constantly but I've seen in some more recent games such as Mankind divided and some older ish ones like GTAV have some issues and I was thinking that maybe a CPU upgrade would help in more CPU intensive games

*of course, entirely your call, and a 4690K or 4790K would get you closer to your 60FPS goal.

Yeah I see your point about the cost to performance with the games I'll think about it for a bit maybe I'll see a good deal on one of them in the future. Thank you for your answers they were really helpful :)
