[SOLVED] I7 4820k vs i5 6500 or 7400

I need to know which of these CPUs will be best for gaming in 2018. I have found all of them for the same price. Planning to use an RX 580 or GTX 1060

OK, that would be DDR4 RAM. That would eliminate i7-4820K which uses DDR3. The 6500 has a higher clock than the 7400 and uses the same motherboard.

Well with your retraction of the RAM, then the i7 will have the highest clock and most threads. But the motherboard for the i7 may be way more expensive and that CPU really wants 4 DIMMs to maximize performance. After that, then my 6500 comment is appropriate.

If you HAD a 4820K, I would say there's no reason to upgrade - at least not to either i5 proposed.
BUT, if you don't already have the platform a new, modern(ish) system with DDR4 is probably the best idea.

When comparing these for the same prices, I assume the 4820K + board is used? Is either the 6500 or 7400 new?
