i7-4930 or haswell?

On Black Friday, I purchased an Intel i7-4930 with Gigabyte motherboard for $555. Even though the CPU itself sells roughly for $460, it is a 2 year old CPU so I'm wondering if I made the right purchase. Should I just have gone for a Haswell 6 or even 4 core? Basically, I'm looking for the best value-performance deal for an Intel i7 chip. Thanks!

It's a 6-core / 12 thread CPU. It's a powerful CPU for anything really.
