Forgive me for asking this question in the Overclocking forum, my system isn't overclocked, but it seems that most discussion regarding temp happens here.

My idle temp is around 45, 100% load Prime at 30 mins approaches 85 via CPUID HW Monitor, 80 via Corsair Link. Currently installed Corsair H80iGT (no room for the dual-fan model). Previously installed, Cooler Master Seidon 120M. Same temps with Cooler Master.

Zalman HP Mid-Tower case with 3 120 fans (one front, two top)

PC sits within a desk. Outside of desk, case off, temps reduce by six degrees overall.

Are my temps too hot? Sorry, I see some posts with the 80's being okay, and some not. Any suggestions how to increase airflow.

Thanks, sorry for being a total newbie, first post :)

Solution

Yes that is rather high. You could probably run your cpu at 4.5-4.6 Ghz at that voltage.

Download prime95 26.6 and rerun the Small FFT. If you use any version higher, you will get higher temps as it stress your AVX on the cpu.
You can read more about Intel's temperature:
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-1808604/intel-temperature-guide.html
Are you running at stock voltage?

I downloaded Prime 26.6 and 30 min test max core package temp was 83, most cores stayed between 74 and 77 during the test. Max temp displayed on Corsair Link was 77.7

I'm running stock voltage.

Guess I'm concerned because the system runs at 100% CPU usage for about 8 hours every day as I render graphics and encode vids.

Oh, the max of 1.6 was from Intel, the max my system pulls is 1.3. Do you think 1.3 is too high?

That was it. Thank you so much.

I didn't build this machine and I had asked several times if they overclocked it and they said no, it was all stock. And, I never checked the BIOS. I'll know in the future to that first from now on.

It was overclocked to 4.2

I reset everything to stock and it's maxing out at 62C.

Thank you again for helping me, I greatly appreciate it!
