Hello,

I want to buy a gaming PC (low to mid-end), and I have two offers:

1. The first one comes with the following CPU and motherboard
CPU: i5 9400 INTEL 1151, 2.9GHz, 6 CORES, 6 THREADS CPU (9TH GEN)
Motherboard: H310CM-HDV/M.2 MOTHERBOARD MICRO ATX LGA1151 ASROCK

2. The second one with the following:
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4960Χ, 3.60GHz, 6 CORES, 12 THREADS
Motherboard: ASUS RAMPAGE IV BLACK EDITION

They both come with 8gb RAM. The second one has old CPU and motherboard, buy they may still be more powerful that the new ones of the first offer. However, I am just thinking about the fact that the second one will not support or be compatible with new technologies (e.g. DDR4).

I look forward to your opinions and suggestions, even for alternatives within about the same price range.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

A PC is not just comprised of the CPU and motherboard. In fact they are like so:
CPU:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:

I'd go for the first option since the 2nd option has grown to be a long tooth.
