i7 5820k vs i7 4790k Minecraft

Hello I have a few questions about the CPU's above.....So at the moment I currently own a 5820k I was wondering whether or not the 4790k would preform better in Minecraft?
Next I wanted to ask My system has 5820k with 980ti and my friend has 4790k with 980 and for some reason he is running much higher fps than me I ranged from 700-1500 not recording and 400-700 while recording and he is running about 1700-2500 not recording and about 1000-1500 while recording can someone explain this to me?? And maybe help me increase my fps?...

Have you looked at the differences in clock speeds of those two processors?

Yes his i7 is running at 4.8ghz and mine is running at 4.5 ghz although I ha e other friends with a 4.0 ghz clocked 4790k that reach higher fps scores than I do...

First off, why would you need to run any game at 500fps or more?

Now to your "issue". Are you sure you both are running the same graphics settings? What are your resolutions?

And yes, why on earth would you want the game to run at anything higher than 120 FPS?

OK first We are both running same graphics settings at same resolution...... And I don't have anything running in background. But the weird thing is if I turn down my graphics settings or resolution my fps is barely effected.. It doesn't change... Which makes no sense

I accidentally clicked best answer can't undo it wtf and I just want to understand why my friends are getting more fps so I can maybe record shaders and stuff cuz currently I can record with shaders only get like 30 fps

Same Minecraft similar hard drives both Samsung although mine is the pro and his is evo and diff mobo cuz mine is x99 cuz of 5820k

Could just be that Minecraft is not yet built to optimize the extra two cores.

Minecraft runs on one core......I'm pretty sure that's my problem 4790k is better single core processor it has highest single core score.... But I didn't think 5820k would fall so behind..qq

I7 4790k is the best...imo

I have an i7 4790k and when my nieces and nephews come over I let them play Minecraft and i installed over 300 mods for them.,The highest my Processor usage CPU was 45-60%<<<Mods will eat up ur processes ....Minecraft is very CPU based not so much GPU so the better CPU will get higher FPS.

If you get i7 5820k then you need to overclock it over 4.5Ghz to even be better then i7 4790k.., Tbh the i7 6700k might have better single core processor now so that may be the best option for the BEST fps But idk.., you also want like 16gb of ram... the game slowly eats RAM up as you load Chunks.


I can understand stand why you want the highest FPS possible....TNT explosions will tank your FPS on any computer if you set off enough of them....Good luck 😛

Your TnT explosions is to do with RAM, not so much CPU. And he's getting thousands of frames, I don't think that'll be an issue.

Also, you do know that both processors are built on the same Architecture right? So theoretically, in a game that only uses one core if they're both running at the same clock speed, performance should be identical.

My computer handles Minecraft with MODS with little to no issues.....Infact the only time i notice lag or half a sec slow downs is from massive nukes/jetpack and the gravity gun/portal gun mods..but those are more like mod performance issues NOT RAM problems.

i7 4790k is a very good CPU for games but if i had to pick a CPU Again i would always go with more cores if i could afford it even if the single core isnt the best>>>BECAUSE MOE COREZ 😛

I can play Minecraft with hundreds of mods on an i3. It's not that impressive.

YEAH People can play minecraft on almost any Computer,vanilla minecraft is NOT hard to run at all.,but if you believe TNT explosions or even lots of sand falling cant reduce any computer to a 0-5 fps then u never really played minecraft.

Mate, I've made Vanilla Minecraft crash from launching TnT on an i7 with 16 gig of RAM. AND I play it MODDED to hell on an i3. I know what it does. Also, I'm not trolling, CPUBoss isn't really an overly great site to post links from.

Don't attack people for nothing. THAT is trolling.
