Hi there, I am thinking about to upgrage from my 5820k @ 4,3 ghz to a 7700k @ 4,9 ghz. What do you think, is it worth to upgrade? I only use the pc for gaming. What difference of the performance should I expect if I buy the i7-7700k?

Solution
Well resolution does matter, higher resolution need more powerful cpu. As i said if u got money get 7700 or maybe even ryzen right now (Ryzen works great for high resolution) and if you are the one who prefer performance/value then wait.

Around 10-20%, depends on game. New intels kabylake is not much better than skylake so can say for sure next intels gen will be much more efficient compared to kabylake. I would not upgrade it now, but if money not a problem go for 7700 right now.

I have a ZOTAC GTX 1080 AMP Extreme right now, it is fine, but i have the feeling that something isn't working fine. The fps I get in games isn't as high as the fps in the benchmark tests. The difference is ca. 10-20% of the benchmark videos. For example, i watched a benchmark video of Rust, the guy had set the settings to fantastic, he had an fps about 120. I only got 70-95.

The average fps in GTA V is around 60-70 fps, 2K resolution, ULTRA, but all the videos i watched the fps was higher.

Hopefully something is gonna fix this. All drivers are up to date, and the GPU is in the right PCI-e slot.

Which gen are you referring to? Intel X299 Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X Processors are due this year as the X99 enthusiast replacement. The next mainstream release I think will be Coffeelake. What do you think the next best gaming chip will be after the 7700k?
