i7-6500U + 256 Gb SSD or i7-4720HQ + 1 Tb HDD: which combo for best performance?

I'm planning to buy a new notebook and have two options for the same price:
1) Asus K501 i7-6500U 8Gb RAM 256 Gb SSD or
2) Asus X550JX i7-4720HQ 12Gb RAM 1Tb HDD.
The other specs are the same.

I am concerned about performance. I want a snappy machine for everyday use. I do not care for battery as I use it as a desktop device. Not for games, just multitasking, multimedia and web surfing.
Which would be the best option? Thank you.

The 4720hq is a quad core and the 6500u is a dual core. I would go for the quad myself and upgrade to an ssd after I got it.

Thank you for the advice. I think I'll do that. Not sure when I'll upgrade to an ssd, though.
