Hello.

I'm having temperature issues with a new build I've made.

It has:
-i7 6700 (non K) with stock cooler.
-EVGA GeForce GTX 980 SC
-32GB (4x8gb) Corsair LPX DDR4 3200mhz
-Asus Maximus VIII Ranger
-SanDisk SSD 240GB + WD Green 1TB
-Thermaltake S.M.A.R.T. 850W PSU
-Thermaltake Chaser A71 Case
-Windows 7 Ultimate x64

It has the stock cooler, with the factory thermal grease. I've never had any problem like this with other processors.

Standby temperatures are around 70 degrees which is a lot. The CPU fan is properly installed and it's running. Sometimes it would not boot because of the BIOS saying that the CPU is overheating (CPU Over Temperature Error).

It's not the first time i've build a PC, but it's the first time I came across something like this, I don't know what could be wrong.

I'm gonna leave two images from HWMonitor, showing the temps of all the machine, and the temps and voltages of the CPU.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

Solution
Looks like you should try re-applying the stock cooler and its associated thermal paste (I loved grease though, haha).
You can also try download CPUZ for yet another opinion on the matter.
You can also try a CMOS reset.

Yes, it's firmly attached.

I'm going to replace the thermal paste.

Since it's a machine i've built for someone else, I don't currently know if it's working properly. I do remember that when I finished building it, and installed Windows, it was working correctly. Maybe I should double check it.

I'm planning on visiting him in the next days.
