Hey all,

I recently saw some nice updates prices and might grab one of the i7 6700 or K version before they finish and go back up. The price difference is about £25 so not much (10% more than the 6700 for those in USA etc). I haven't overclocked before, but for the extra .5ghz i think it's worth it. K version doesn't come with a heatsink tho so it's not only £25 more expensive :/

So how hard is overclocking, and if i get the K what kind of cooler should i use? My current processor i have been using the stock one so never bought one before.

Heres the reference build, http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/p/rtqjwP

Thanks

I have an i7 2700k for over 3 years. I never found any reason OC-ing it. In games it doesn't make a difference f you check benchmarks (maybe just 1-2%?). I think it is just a hype "I can do it!" but no such big difference for an i7 in your normal daily tasks. Also, note that for OC you need a very good cooler. If you choose a big Noctua then you should know that you should not move your PC so much because it is so heavy it can damage your motherboard. So I prefer not OC and a normal cooler. No issues at all.
