Hi guys,

I have an i7-6700 CPU with a Gigabyte Z170M-D3H Mobo, and I tried to OC it with BIOS which accept the non K CPU OC. So, without OC my CPU's temperature was around 35-40 °C without gaming, and 40-45 °C while gaming.

With OC to 4,4 GHZ in 1.325V (instead of the original 1.2 V) the temps are 45-50 °C without gaming and 50-56 °C (max 60) while gaming.

I would like to ask you are the values normal? Will the constant use of the CPU like this damage the CPU on long term? Or will the CPU's life time shorter than if would use it without OC?

P.S.: my memory is 2400 mhz DDR4, but in BIOS I just saw 2255 and 2445 mhz options. Can I choose the higher one even so my limit is 2400 mhz?

Thank you!!

Temperatures are completely normal. If you choose the higher option you are overclocking your RAM.

Voltage is a little high but nothing to worry about, don't go over 1.350V in my opinion if you are looking to keep the CPU for many years.

Thank you my friend!

My last worry is the PSU. I read everywhere that the Cooler Master Elite Power Black 600W is not a good PSU and dangeorus to Overclock with it.

What do you think is it ok, or should I change it to a 85+ silver category PSU.

Thank you again!

I am asking it because when I made the OC and I save the BIOS settings and select Save and Exit, the PC completely shuts down (like an unexpected blackout) than 10 sec later it starts and load 1-2 min with black screen.

Is it because of the weak PSU?

No, because very little power is being used when booting up. If a crash due to the power supply being too weak occurred, it wouldn't actually happen till a program was started up or something, unless of course that power supply is REALLY bad, but I don't know.
