Hi all,

I've ordered a new computer based on the new I7-6700k.
I've just noticed that the 6700 only supports DDR4 up to 2166 and only dual-channel.
I originally ordered a 4X8 2400 RAM module (i.. a quad RAM system).
Will this RAM set up work with the chip?
If yes - I assume it will run at 2166?
Can I use overclocking to make use of the faster RAM speed (my board is qualified to much higher speeds) or is this a stupid idea?
All assistance appreciated.

There is no gain in using 4 sticks. Instead your system will use slightly more power and might be more unstable, especially when overclocking. Also of course more things that can fail. It will also limit your options if you ever want to upgrade since then you wont be able to simply add 2 more sticks.
If you can still change the order, then you should change it to 2 stick.
