I had the opportunity to compare both processors, as it has been 8 years since I bought my current i7 6700, and since the price range is quite similar, I find it very interesting to see what you get 8 years later for a similar price.

We all know that the integrated graphics of the 8600G is far superior to that of the 6700, of course, there are 8 years of difference, but most of the tests I have carried out are on CPU performance in processor tasks, with some tests on games, with and without the 1060 6GB that I have.

The conclusions are that for tasks that require intensive CPU usage, the performance gain is approximately double, sometimes a little more than double. On the other hand, in games, when using a dedicated graphics card like the GTX 1060 6GB, the gain provided by the processor itself seems very low, almost nonexistent, at least according to 3DMARK, GTA V, and Cyberpunk. That is probably caused by limitation due to 1060 working at max with both processors.
The truth is that ignoring the games performance due to limitations caused by the 1060, I am not completely satisfied, I think that after 8 years I expected the improvement to be more impactful. Perhaps it's because I am from the old school, and if anyone makes the effort to go back to the 90s, even the 2000s, they will see the incredible improvement we experienced in 8 years. Just to give you an idea, in 1993 we had the Pentium 1 at 60mhz, and 8 years later we had the Pentium 4. The improvement was x20, x25, x30 etc... and not just x2 like now. Then, 7 years later, in 2008, we already had the i7, with 4 cores and 8 threads, and between the first Pentium 4s and the first i7s, there was also a colossal evolution in performance. This leaves me quite cold. I know that 8600G is a good CPU and I like it, but at the same time I feel like I expected more.
By the way, the i7 6700 was released in 2015, so there isn't 8 years, but almost 9 years of difference between both processors.
