So I recently upgraded my old i5-3570k to a newer i7-6700k with an Asus Z170-A and it's running way to hot for my liking my cooler is a Corsair H60 and It's running at 75-83ºC in any game. I read that the i7-6700k has an over voltage problem or something like that making the CPU run hot. I'm more then happy with the current clock speed it has the 4.0 - 4.2(Turbo) so I just want to lower the voltage so it can run cooler only problem is that the Mobo I have isn't very straight forward like my old Mobo on how to change Core Voltage. I set it to manual made it 1.25V but it's still reaching +1.4V and I've read threads of ppl getting 4.0-4.2 with 1.25V so it's possible. Also like I said this new Mobo doesn't have it labled simply Vcore like my old one but it has CPU Core/Cache Voltage which I asume is Vcore right? So does anyone know what I should should to remedy the higher than needed Voltage on my CPU?

Hi, just read a review on Amazon which might help. Guy has similar problem to you installing a larger corsair cooler with an overclocked i3, and turns out he installed the backplate slightly wrong which affected the temps majorly. If you reinstalled the cooler yourself after replacing the chip consider double checking the stuff he mentions and maybe checking the state of the paste between cooler and cpu contact area. It sounds like a cooler issue unless your room is really warm. You might be confident you have done this properly but here's a link to the review either way unless it's blocked for being a URL but it looks relevant to me, I was researching similar stuff today...

I get its H60 your processor vs H100i and his processor but maybe this could occur with your model as well not 100% sure. But for these coolers which I've heard are pretty good sounds like you should be running cooler from what I've seen. Correct me if i'm wrong anyone.

Good luck either way,

I got both of those additions for my birthday this year and I have not had an issues with the Hyper Evo 212 with both fans on. My CPU runs at 4.7GHz stressed and does not break 70C. You should be find as long as the CPU does not reach 100C as most intel are fine until then. Make sure you also put the thermal paste on, you only need a pea size drop and just smear it with a card or something.
