Hey all!
So I'm doing a heavy gaming build for university so I need a future proof computer for at least 5 years but I've only got 1500 GBP to spend on it, i'm very confused on what case I need which is the main question but I'd also like to know if my parts will all be compatable, any help would be greatly appreciated :) It's a large build consisting of;
i7 6700k
16GB DDR4 3000MHz RAM
2 Palit GTX 970s in SLI
MSI z170a M7 motherboard (atx)
1000W modular PSU (next to no difference in price compared to 850w)
USB wifi as it will usually be plugged into an Ethernet port
23" Acer monitor
I just need to find a case that will fit this bulky build in it and i'm not so sure on what i'm needing, ive got 100GBP to spend on it so it's a small budget for a case. Any help would be really appreciated :)
Sorry I forgot to say, it is liquid cooled using a corsair h65 I believe but it has a single 120mm fan.

There is no H65. If you meant to say 55, 60, or 75, you won't get much room to overclock your CPU with, but if you aren't then it's fine, maybe consider getting the locked 6700 instead for a little cheaper. Graphics card wise, you'd be better off getting a single 980 Ti if it's around the same price. If not, 970s are fine for 1080p, 1440p you might want something different though. If you can wait a little while new graphics cards are coming out later this year, but if not, it's fine. PSU is fine, motherboard is fine. For a case I recommend the Fractal Design R5. If you have any mooney left you might want to consider upgrading the CPU cooler to something a little stronger, but that mainly depends if you're overclocking. If you're playing at 1080p that's fine, your graphics card(s) will ensure good framerates on games for a while since the resolution isn't as demanding as others. If you're playing fast-paced shooters or what not, I'd recommend getting 120Hz or 144Hz, 1/2ms response time monitor as your games won't be limited to just 60fps, as your system would probably get in the 100s of fps.

you do not need a k cpu at all ...get the cryorig H7 for cooler ..very good and cheap

depending on which resolution you want to use , can change a lot of things here about the gpus
if on 1080p i suggest you the 980 ti alone , but for 4K you need to go sli with the gtx 980

get an ssd , like the samsung 850 evo 250gb

Thank you both very much for your answers :) I believe I did mean the H60, sorry. After looking at that cryorig H7 I think I will be going with that for a cpu cooler instead. I will more than likely be doing overclocking as for a disertation for university which is why I was thinking about using a K version, would that cryorig H7 handle heavy overclocking or would I need to invest in a lot better one when the time comes? The issue I've got with the graphics card is that the 980 ti costs considerably more than the two 970s and I'd only be doing 1080p gaming, I'm on a very tight budget for what I need so I don't think I can invest in a 980ti although I'd like to. I've done a lot of overclocking on GPUs before but never on SLI, is it exactly the same principle as overclocking one or is there anything I need to know? That fractal design R5 looks absolutely perfect for it, thank you very much for suggesting that, that's the one I'll be going for :) I'm planning on using a kingston hyperx SSD 240gb for the operating system and games (I usually play one at a time so not much space is needed) and a 2tb WD 64mb cache hard drive for work, pictures, just general stuff and the odd non intense game like the binding of isaac and that. I'll look into those monitors, I believe the specs of the one I was looking at for 130 GBP was 1ms latency, full hd so 1920*1280 and 23", I'm not much of a fast paced shooter player, more fallout 4, borderlands, the witcher, games like that, for 130 GBP I thought it was pretty good, is there anything else you can suggest for around that price mark? I've been told that an i5 6600k might be better instead of a i7 6700k, it has a 100 GBP difference in price which I could then invest elsewhere but I need this computer to be decent for around 5 years, what's your opinion on this? For the dissertation I'm most likely going to be looking at cluster computing and how processing power is affected by one computer in the cluster being decent with lots of low processing power computers, and variations on that so overclocking would be looked at a lot, I haven't been able to find much research about this at all so for a dissertation I thought it would be quite good :) Thank you again guys, it's really appreciated!!!

you can overclock a non k cpu with skylake and the cryorig H7 is plenty enough to do it

for the monitor i suggest a 24 inches min / IPS / 1920 X 1080P / wide screen ...ASUS have good one

``I'm planning on using a kingston hyperx SSD 240gb``
better using a samsung 850 evo by far , good reputation / good performer

i7 is best for multi cores use programs , editing , cfd etc

the gtx 980 ti should not cost more then two gtx 970....??? where you buy?

I got i7 6700k with h75 cooler 16gb ddr4 2400mhz, gtx970, msi gaming bored, 700w psu ocz, 2tb hard drive and 240 Samsung ssd. Cost 850 all in with Windows as made it myself. You don't need to gtx970 at mo if you need it wait for second card as they will drop when they get new gpus out

I'll have a look at the non K cpus then, thank you. i'll have a look at the monitors too it's just I can't get too big as I need to take this all over the country in a crammed car so 24" is probably the largest I could go unfortunately. I've heard some good things about both SSDs, would you recommend the 850 evo over the hyperx? for the gpus I can get two 970s for 480 GBP but the cheapest 980ti I could see was 650 GBP but thanks for showing me that, ive got to do some thinking now as to which one I get, wouldn't two 970s crunch numbers a lot faster than a singular 980ti? for the 970s I was looking on amazon as the palit gtx 970 jetstreams were the cheapest on there. Do you know roughly when the new GPUs are coming out as I need to get this all built and ready by the end of august?

I've just found out that the nvidia gpus will more than likely be out after the time I need all my parts unfortunately... so I've done some more looking around and was wondering (as I'm a bit of a radeon sapphire fan) whether 2 r9 390s crossfired would be better than one 980ti as on paper two r9s is much better as far as I can tell and I can get them for the same price, what's your opinion?

``2 r9 390s crossfired would be better than one 980ti ``

just take note that r9 390 need more wattages and in crossfire its like an oven .....
you need a very good ventilation for amd setup

but i am agree the r9 390 in crossfire ...just kill the 980 ti

I believe it was only 25 more watts compared to a 970, not sure about the 980ti wattage though. Thankyou though, I forgot all about the extra heat, I guess I need to invest in some more case fans, have you got any suggestions for the fractal design r5 case? I can put about 100 GBP extra into the project as I'm just over the 1500 GBP limit for case fans.

So that's the build I'm going to go for unless you guys have anything you think would be better or be best changed? I've also then got the cost of a USB wifi adapter, Crossfire cable and I believe that's it, I've got a mouse, keyboard, speakers, etc. So for a build under 1600 GBP I'm very happy with that :) The red and black theme should look so nice too!! On the american pc part picker it would have come out at 1300 GBP which is annoying. Do you think those case fans are ok too?

ill go for those fans then :) thank you so much for all of your help, you've been unbelievably helpful and I appreciate it a lot!!! I'm looking forward to be able to build this now, I'll hopefully have it all done by the start of june!
