Good day everyone,

I'm buying a computer soon, I would rather build it myself, but the store where i'm buying has a great discount on this builds so thats what i'm getting... Here are the builds:

Intel® Core™ i7-6700K Quad-Core, 4.0 GHz, Turbo 4.2 GHz, 8 MB Cache
Cooler Master Hyper 212X (RR-212X-17PK-R1)
Motherboard MSI Z170A KRAIT GAMING 3X
RAM: Gskill Ripjaws V DDR4-2400MHz 2x8GB (F4-2400C15D-16GVS)
SSD Samsung 2.5" 750 Evo 250GB (MZ-750250Z)
Power Supply XFX TS 650W 80PLUS Bronze (P1-650S-NLB9)
Intel® HD Graphics 530 + MSI GTX970 Armor 4GD5T OC (912-V316-035)

or

Intel® Core™ i5-6500 Quad-Core, 3.2 GHz,Turbo 3.6 GHz, 6 MB Cache
Motherboard MSI B150A GAMING PRO
RAM Gskill Ripjaws V DDR4-2133MHz 2x8GB (F4-2133C15D-16GVR)
SSD Samsung 2.5" 750 Evo 250GB (MZ-750250Z)
Power Supply Corsair Builder CX600W (CP-9020048-EU)
Intel® HD Graphics 530 + MSI GeForce GTX 1060 GAMING X 6G

My question is, which one of these two builds is going to perform better? From what I can tell they are verry similar with the main diference being i7-6700K + GTX970 vs i5-6500 + GTX1060 and the fact that the second build can never overclock due to the motherboard (I will propably not overclock either way), and i wanted to know if it was worth the i7 over the 1060 since there isn't that much diference between the 970 and the 1060... I will mostly use it for gaming, but may sometimes do some work in 3D modeling and such.

Thanks for the help,
Diogo

If you're /actually/ going to do 3d rendering, you're probably best off with the i7. As far as gaming is concerned, get whichever of these is cheaper. Both will run well for almost all games out now, but the i5+1060 will run them better by a bit.

The only other concern is the power supply of the i5 rig, google says is 80+ bronze, but your writeup doesn't mention it.

Of course, this is all mostly opinion. Neither computer is bad by any means, and both will do what you want, no problem.

To be honest if your gaming at 1080p either will do but of you get the i7 rather than the i5 could benefit you in the long run and hey you could sell the 970 and use part of that for a 1070 or 1060
