I7 6700K Optimal Performance

Hello guys!

I, just now, created this account for the purpose of creating this thread. I have been using this site to look up solutions for my PC related issues for a very long time and now i felt it was time to create an account.

Okay, so first off i only use my PC for playing CSGO, studying or just browsing. Specifically in CSGO, i have been having lag stutters for quite some time. Other than that, the PC is working great. I have tried a bunch of stuff to fix this stutter. About a week back i fixed it by using custom commands in the game config, which worked till tonight when the lag stutters appeared again. So now i believe it has something to do with my processor, im not really sure, but it would make sense since CS is a very CPU-heavy game.
I have the correct settings in nvidia, disabled xbox dvr, max power option in windows yadayada, all the basic stuff is already handled. Basically im just asking how to make my game run smoother since i believe that my PC should easily have enough power to NOT have lags like this.

I have read a bunch of stuff about people recommending to disable hyper threading and stuff like that but i dont feel comfortable doing that kind of stuff without knowing what it is really doing.

Any help is much appreciated, i just want to be able to play lag-free 🙁

MOBO: Asus B150 Pro gaming
CPU: Intel i7 6700K
RAM: 16GB (8x2) Corsair Vengeance DDR4 CL3 2133MHz
SSD: OCZ TR150 240GB
HDD: Seagate Desktop SSHD 1TB 7200rpm 64MB
GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 4GB
CPU Cooler: CM Master Hyper 212 EVO

I guess that's about it. As i said, any help regarding this "stutter" that creates annoyance would be very much appreciated.

Disabling hyper threading only makes this a true quadcore,nothing to worry about. It needs to be done in the bios,but is something you could experiment with.
Other thing is that ram,if i read well does it have a cas latency of 13,do enable XMP in the bios so it runs at rated speed and timings.

Hi, and thank you for replying. Since i have a ASUS b150 Pro Gaming MOBO, i cant overclock. And with that said, i thought that it didnt matter if my XMS profile was set to "Auto" in BIOS. I have now made some different tests in CS:GO with an FPS Benchmark map made by Ulletical.

Results:

1600x900 all settings on LOW
Standard settings: 314.96 avg FPS
Disable Core 0 in Task Manager: 338.04 avg FPS
HyperThreading OFF: 254.60 avg FPS

1024x768 black bars all settings on low
Standard settings: 339.17 avg FPS
Disable Core 0 in Task Manager: 363.24 avg FPS
HyperThreading OFF: 269.33 avg FPS

When i was done with these i decided to try what you pointed out: enable XMP in BIOS, which i did and it actually seemed to help a little bit.

1024x768 black bars all settings on low (With XMS Profile #1 in BIOS)
Standard: 360.07 avg FPS
Disable Core 0 in Task Manager: 368.24 avg FPS
With -threads 8 in launch options (Standard setting is -threads 4): 292.44 avg FPS

HyperThreading OFF didnt seem to work better at all so i enabled it after doing the first two tests. It seems a little bit faster with XMP enabled atleast. But with my setup and the best average FPS on 368.24 with 1024x768 res and all settings on low seems a little low??

Im not sure what else to do, im just trying to get the best possible performance for my game without the stutters. Also it is quite annoying to ALT-TAB out of the game and disable core 0 before playing everytime...

Didn't think that disabling hyper threading was going to matter,but it was worth it to test.

Don't know about those nrs for the game,don't have it so can't say what is "normal" fps for it.Think that stutters are the most annoying thing.
Saw this one where the fps are lower,but his settings are higher.

why not using your monitors default screen settings? Like if using 1080p use that ... see if this helps.

thanks, i did some other frametests and everything seems stable with temps and everything. I disabled Intel SpeedStep and C-States in BIOS and now it is much better. Thanks for your input though!

That's good to hear. Tried using windows "high performance mode" (energy settings) as well?
