i7 6700k Safe overclock

Hello i am getting a new beastly gaming/editing rig and i would like to overclock my cpu and gpu(gpu shouldnt be a problem) but on the cpu i would like to know a safe overclock, i7 6700k with the be quiet shadow rock 2 cooler on a gigabyte z170n-wifi

Anything under 80c/1.350v is "safe" of course keep in mind more voltage means higher tempratures mean lower life span. i like to stick under 1.250v.
Honestly i'd say don't worry much about the life span of your cpu if your not going over 1.350v cause its most likely to last until your next upgrade.

you can start with 4.4Ghz at 1.200v if it does not crash lower the voltage until it crashes
or
increase the clocks until it crashes and start increasing the voltage until its stable

i'd say 4.5Ghz is a Decent OC on the 6700k since it already goes to 4.2Ghz on stock

Good lucking getting your chip to OC at the voltages posted by Aladdad. When OC the 6700k, 1.45v is the limit you don't want to go past. And getting a chip that will be stable at a high OC or boot for that matter at a low v is luck of the draw. I can't get mine stable @ 4.6 Ghz without 1.42v. I'm liquid cooling on a custome loop and at 100% load (ROG Benchmark) my temps get insane (I'm still trying to tweak it). My ambient temps are really warm so I'm happy if during a bench mark my temps only hit 85c.

There's quite a few good guides for the 6700k which cover different Mobos. Pick one that suits you. I have an Asus Mobo so I used the ROG guide.
