I have a I7-6800K I need a motherboard cheap I found a hp z440 with a C612 Chipset would they work together and I have non server ram could I use it?

After some digging some people were able to get 6 series CPUs to run in that board. However since its probably not officially supported there may be issues/bugs.

Officially, no. There's only support for E5-1600v3/v4 and E5-2600v3/v4 series CPUs.

Practically, it does appear to 'work'.

Reported 3 months and no issues with a 6850K (other than being unable to OC, obviously), but you never know. With no official support, there may be instability or other unidentifiable problems.

No it should work as the 6800K does not support ECC anyways. If people have gotten other 6th gen models to work they would have had to used non ECC RAM.
