i7 6850 temps with 1080 ti

So i basically got a new pc containing i7 6850k and gtx 1080ti
Normal temp is 35-40
Gaming temp goes to 70
Im playing all games at 1440p at ultra quality
Is that normal for a cpu

70C seems a bit warm for just a gaming load, but, that might depend on ambients, and of course, what cooler is being used. (Is the 6850 at stock clocks/core voltage?)

Thermaltake cooler, and yes stock clock
I've been getting from 70 to 73

Let your wallet be your guide to proceed, there are several X99 OC reviews....

I'd be comfortable with 70C in gaming, but, I would not be personally be happy with above 80C....

at 1440P/ultra, you'd have to weigh the extra fps with the extra heat and power draw...
