I've been looking into upgrading my i5-6500 to a i7 7700 non k, Im not sure if i should invest in an aftermarket cooler or is the stock cooler with the i7 enough?

Please invest in an aftermarket cooler, as the intel's stock cooler is not that good enough, especially when comparing with Ryzen's Wraith coolers.

You can go for the cheap and best Cooler Master 212 EVO

Currently the LED version is on sale, so go for that one if you have a tempered glass panel.

Or if you want an AIO Liquid cooler, go for Corsair Hydro Series H100i

All awesome. But do remember with intel i7's, it's a general rule to buy a cooler.
