So I was playing Reinbow Six Siege for the first time with this cpu and noticed that the stock fans were loud, I got out of the game and CPU temperatures (monitor with MSI AfterBurner) were hovering around 82 C (MAX 86 C)...

I immediately quit the game and never start it since then...

I bought the Master Cooler 212 LED and is yet to arrive but I`m still scared and skeptical about my cpu...

My question is: Can 86 C degree spike and 82 C for like 30 min of gameplay damage my CPU?

Solution
I mean in conclusion higher temperatures isn't the best but don't expect your CPU to blowup or anything. It's okay the way it is but if you ever intend to do more demanding tasks such as streaming or maybe rendering etc then I personally think you might to see some issues or at least see the temperature rise but on this link https://ark.intel.com/products/97128/Intel-Core-i7-7700-Processor-8M-Cache-up-to-4_20-GHz (By Intel themselfs) it seems it doesn't start to thermal throttle until it hits 100c so I wouldn't worry a whole lot about it and your new cooler should do the job.
Are you using the stock cooler? Those temps are really high, dont stress test or do any cpu intensive task on the present cooler. Even do check whether the thermal paste is applied properly or not. While you have ordered the 212 evo, also go ahead get yourself the cooler master mastergel maker nano or the MX4 thermal paste. I personally prefer and use the mastergel maker nano.
And no it wont damage your cpu, but when used in such condition for months, then it may degrade the processor. Heat is an enemy of computer parts.
