I7 7700k compatibility

We have a hp omen with ipm17-dd2 with 650w psu, 16g ddr4, geoforce gtx1060
This has an i5 and was looking to upgrade to i7 7700k
Right sized slot! But is it compatible? we have one that didnt boot, reset the cmos and still didnt. Dont know if faulty or need bios update?

What processor was in it exactly? Also trying to find info on the board and the only thing Ive found is this

No the Z370 boards are for the new 8th Gen Intels 8700k, you need a Z270 board if you plan on using the 7700k.

Changing motherboard will invalidate the Windows licence provided by HP.
