So, this endless debate should I have HT enabled, or disabled.

I only play games on my machine, and the reason why I'm even thinking of disabling this is because of how it affects my temps.

With HT:
idle - 40c (average)
Load - It has gone up as far as 85c

Without HT:
idle - 30-35c
Load - Never goes above 75c

-Thanks

Well already have max case fans, when temps go above 80c I do get paranoid, and with 10c less without hyperthreading which I've heard is only for video editing and heavy multi-tasking, sounds like I dont even need that.

I am using my old CPU cooler on a new build (Cooler Master N520) with a 7700k. Idle temps were about 32-40 and under load I was seeing high 80s sometimes low 90s. I ordered a Noctua NH-D15 in hopes to eliminate the problem. After ordering, I decided to disable hyperthreading and turbo boost in efforts to keep my temps as low and safe as possible until my new cooler arrived.

The results kind of blew my mind. The idle temps remained the same but under full load, I am seeing a max temperature of 70. That is substantial enough to make me wonder if there is something wrong with my chip or motherboard voltage settings with turbo boost maybe. I simply don't know enough about it to understand why. I kind of wish I hadn't ordered the cooler because I am perfectly happy with the performance as is. I will enable both hyperthreading and turbo boost after installing the new cooler. I am very curious to see the results.

I was debating if I should turn off hyper and boost technology. But after I saw why I was getting such high temps (close to your temps) it was because of my voltage. It was set to "auto" and 1.300 voltage. Getting it down to 1.180 (lowest I could go) temps went from 90c - 100% load to 82c-100% load. And playing a game such as the division or mafia 3 temps never go above 72c.
