I7 7700k on z170 motherboard

I have a 6700k(4.4Ghz) on a z170 gigabyte gaming k3 motherboard, im thinking about getting a 7700k because it would only cost me around £30($40) to upgrade after selling my 6700k. Are there any upcoming CPUs releasing soon that will beat the 7700k in gaming and will they work on z170 boards? (I have a 1080ti)

far as i know the upcoming intel cpus need a new motherboard

Just bought the 7700k along with a NH-D15 to replace my DH-14 lol maybe not the most significant upgrades lol. Ur comment makes alot of sense but idk whats wrong with me I love to upgrade i guess .

Yup, my board is compatible, I checked the gigabyte site. I will probably keep the 7700k and z170 board for 6 months andwait for a good deal on the next intel CPUs + Mobo before I buy again. Thanks.
