Question i7 7700k or ryzen 7 2700 non x

Hello. I want to upgrade my old i5 7400 to make a good combination with the rtx 2060 . so when it comes to my budget I have 2 possibilities . OR I7 7700K OR AMD Ryzen 2700 non x ? the i7 7700k is more expensive but it would save me from buying a new Mobo . so what should I get and why?

To change to Ryzen you would also need a motherboard and that would make Ryzen more expensive but with better upgrade future. I7 7700K can also run with DDR3L and DDR4 so depending on your MB, you may also need new RAM.
By the time you decide and order parts, Ryzen 3600 will be available and that together with a good b450 motherboard would make a helluva good upgrade.

The K CPUs only make real sense if you're using a Z board from Intel.

With 2400MHz ram, you'd be better off with Intel. Ryzen use Infinity Fabric to talk between the cores, and thats dictated by the speed of the ram. Just moving from 2133MHz to 3000MHz, or 2400 to 3200 can be @ 20% performance increase, which is more than many overclocks. Intel doesn't use the same process, so doesn't really show much of any benefits for most applications, and 2400 is the rated speed of kabylake, 7th gen Intel.

Granted it's not cheap to make such a seemingly small upgrade, but the only other option would be a platform change and both Ryzen and CoffeeLake use 2666 or better.

The 7700K is still a very capable general use and pure gaming (without simultaneous streaming due to limited thread count) processor; the problem is that it costs about $350, and, requires a $50-$99 cooler to keep it at comfortable temp levels.... For $350, you can wait two weeks, and likely get a 3600X and a compatible mainboard that will outdo the 7700K in anything/everything... (even 4c/8t and 6c/6t CPUs are becoming increasingly burdened in many of the newest challenging games..; in light of what's coming out 7 July, and the low cost of the 2600X/2700X, I'd start my shopping there

The problem is that in our country new stuff be very expensive when they arrive also it wont arive exactly at 7 july it will take like a week ans i cant wait that much. My current cpu is killing my GPU so i gues im going with the r7 2700

Depends on the price difference available to you and your willingness to overclock. There is a $70 difference in price currently for me and I like overclocking. If it were me I’d buy the 2700 a $30-$40 cooler and put the rest toward a b-die memory kit. YMMV.

Either way you’ll want good power delivery from the motherboard. The 8 cores draw pretty significant current and can overwhelm the motherboard vrm and cause throttling when overclocking a 2700 or running PBO on the 2700x. This can usually be remedied with direct airflow over the vrm heatsink. There are many b450 and x470 boards that have garbage VRM sections. Some of them aren’t the bottom of the barrel price bracket either. This list is pretty good as far as VRM potential:
