I7 7700k - Temps jumping like crazy

I recently purchased an i7 7700k and used my 212 evo cooler for it.

I've used 2 different pastes so far and both have the same result.

First Paste - Temperatures jump from 27c to 70c+ (Browsing the internet)

Second Paste - Temperatures jump from 35c to 75c or when gaming 80c (Extremely light load)

I have no idea what this could be... i've seen other posts where people have the same issue but i can't seem to find a fix and i don't really want to delid my processor.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Here are a few possibilities.

The cooler mounting bracket may be defective. The thermal paste application could be poor. The fan on the cooler may be running too slow. The air flow with in the case may be poor or restricted. The case fans could be too few and/or too slow.

Yeah but it's weird because i was using the same case and same cooler for my 4790k processor @ 4.4ghz and it was 38c max at idle and 60c under load

Then the cooler is not installed correctly with thermal paste. Or the cooler itself is defective. I am suspicious of the used cooler.

I dont think your temperature is that high to worry, its hot cpu. You didnt tell if u run it on stock speed? Download HWmonitor or any software that shows vcore voltage. What is your vcore during load?
