Hello!

New to tomshardware! I'm a little bit of a amateur to overclocking but currently I'm upgrading to a 7700k from a 3570k @4.3 ghz. I recently just purchased a corsair h55 liquid cooler. My question is will I have a issue overclocking the 7700k to around 5.0 ghz with the h55 cooler? I've read that the 7700k likes to run pretty warm. Just need a 2nd opinion thanks!

First see how temps are at stock clocks. Should be high actually since the 7700k stock volts is what, 1.3-1.4v?

Either way, you should get to 4.5ghz on all cores at below 1.3v so you'll be undervolting and overclocking at the same time.
Welcome to the Forums!!!

The H55 is probably the worst CPU cooler you could of bought for overclocking a 7700K. It's simply not powerful enough to run a 5ghz overclocked 7700k. You need something a LOT more beefy like a 240mm H100i or a high end Air cooler.

Appreciate all the replys! Going to see how high I can oc it with the h55 (safely obviously) and if I'm not satisfied I'll pick up a better cooler. Will keep you guys informed on what happens. Thanks!
