i7 7700k with maximus ix code

Hello everyone, i tried to find some solid information around yet i failed. i was wondering what's the optimal oc i can get with i7 7700k on asus maximus ix code, using a gammaxx 400 cpu cooler(didn't buy the toys yet just trying to get some information before moving on). im not looking for insane values just wanna be able to hit 5.0-5.2 without burning the thing down. i'd appreciate any information. thanks in advance.

Gammaxx 400 is a budget cooler only good to replace stock or minor OC.

How well you can overclock is primarily determined by your luck in getting a good chip.

As of 6/9/17
What percent can get an overclock at a somewhat sane 1.4v Vcore.

I7-7700K
4.9 83%
5.0 62%
5.1 29%
5.2 6%

The question is will you run out of safe vcore before you run into thermal limits.
The gammacool at least has a 120mm fan so that will count for something.

There are better inexpensive units with 120mm fans.
One of the best is the scythe kotetsu, about $35.

That will probably get you to a couple of multipliers lower than a top cooler like the noctua NH-D15s in a good case.
