A few times I've contemplated upgrading my entire system to a modern cpu / graphics card.
Yet, I asked myself if the system still runs the games on my Steam list - the answer is still a solid yes.
I pulled my bill from my computer build: April 2010.
Here we are, almost 8.5 years later.
I overclocked the cpu 2 years into this system, doubled the ram, went through a few graphics cards and added an ssd drive or two.
Windows 10/64-bit
i7-860 @ 3.8ghz (Lynnfield)
16 gb ram
Evga Gtx 970
Dell 25" 2560x1440
Surprisingly I'm getting great frame rates @ 1440 on games like Warhammer Vermintide 2, Witcher 3 (when I was playing it), Divinity Original Sin 2, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Doom.
The itch has been there many times to overhaul the system - but then I figure why bother if it works like a charm still. I no longer compress/convert video like I used to, so a program like Handbrake etc. being faster, doesn't bother me.
Anyone else still running an older gaming computer build?
