I haven't found much info on the i5 760 as far as where it stands in the list of CPU's.
I want to get a 1156 setup, and the i7 870 seems like the real deal just under 300$.
But the i5 760 also seems pretty sweet.

So I was wondering if anyone knows of how good this i5 760 is, and how it would compare to the i7 870???

I think this is what you are looking for. The 760 is just a slightly faster clocked 750.

The whole article may help too.

The i5 750/760 are about the best bang for your buck in the $200 range. If you have the extra money the i7 930 would be my choice. In fact if you live near a Microcenter a 930 can be had for somewhere around $200. If not you are forced to pay more like the rest of us.

You won't see any difference unless you do a lot of multi-threading tasks such as video encoding/redering.
IMO, 870 is worth the extra cost only if 50%+ of your time is spent on multi-threading apps.
