i7 870 overclocked hyper threading on vs off

Hi,
I have a i7 870 on a intel DH55TC mobo. Since I cant change any voltages with this mobo, i have managed to OC to 3.41GHz with hyper threading off(24hrs prime 95 confirmed stable). Now when i turn HT on, since i cant increase the vcore, i need to turn down the clock to 3.2Ghz. I ran both on cinibench and HT on @ 3.2Ghz got a score of 5.48 while HT on @ 3.4Ghz got a score of 4.55. Is there any real advantage to having HT on at lower clock speeds or should I turn it off and get the higher clock speeds? I use my system for gaming and school work.

I would say keep it on....Earlier games took no advantage of hyperthreading....But modern games like crysis 3 have started taking advantage of hyperthreading....

I would also run it with ht enabled.

HT won't help on 99% of games..and adds heat;AND you have to lower clocks.
I'd say go with the higher clocks for FPS.
I had a similar chip ( x3450 ) I'd turn HT off for gaming.

I think synopsis of these opinions is: look at your programs you use. If they can utilize it, keep on. If they can't utilize it, no point. There is not a blanket answer we can give since it is purely based on whether or not you have programs that use it. Nothing wrong with keeping it off until you start using programs that use it
