[SOLVED] i7-8700 vs i5-9600kF for gaming/streaming

Ignoring cost (found a good deal on both), based on performance alone which would you choose for gaming and light streaming? Upgrading from a 9100F paired with a 3060 and 16gb 2400 ram.

As I understand it hyper threading is helpful for the gaming/streaming combo. The 9600kF does not have hyperthreading.
We don't want to upgrade the mobo or PSU. Currently she has the MSI Pro-Series H310 mobo and a Corsair RM550w psu.

Straight gaming wise they're essentially identical.
Once you throw streaming into the mix I'd expect the 8700 with its extra 6 threads to do plain 'better'.

They are basically the same chip.
The i5 is the F model with no integrated graphics.
So if they are the same price the i7 would be better by just a tiny tiny bit.

12 vs 6 threads, I’d pick the 12. Personally I feel a 6 thread is not a good buy. There are games already that push 6 threads hard and I expect 6 core/thread CPU’s are going to age like the 4 core/thread i5’s before them and that’s poorly in recent years.
